Texas Tech Nationally, Best Online Programs for Veterans (Online University) - U.S. News World Report recently ranked three of Texas Tech University’s colleges and departments for having some of the Best Online Programs for Veterans.
The Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering (No. 17), the College of Education’s graduate program (No. 96) and the Department of Computer Science (No. 14) were all nationally ranked.
This is the second consecutive year Texas Tech has been recognized for its online education programs.
“Whether a veteran is taking a class face-to-face or online, we are proud to serve,” said Ryan Van Dusen, director of Texas Tech’s Military and Veterans Programs (MVP). “Online degrees are a great option for military personnel and working veterans. It is great to be able to tell potential students they will be able to get a high-quality education in whichever format they choose.”
The U.S. News rankings were based on program reputation, faculty credentials, retention rates and graduate debt loan. Programs must be ranked in the top-75 percent of schools included in U.S. News and World Report’s 2015 Best Online Programs rankings, published in January.
The Military and Veterans Programs provide assistance to veterans and their families from the time they apply to Texas Tech. MVP serves as the one place student veterans can access their education benefits, register for classes, ask questions and get assistance with the transition from military to civilian life.
Texas Tech has more than 1,800 student veterans and dependents of veterans and more than 350 faculty and staff members in different colleges, departments and offices on campus to serve as assistants to students.
Texas Tech has received other esteemed rankings and recognitions such as being named a Military Friendly College and University by Military Advanced Education, a Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs and a “Best for Vets” school by Military Times. Texas Tech also is the first Purple Heart University in Texas.
Texas Tech recently was one of five universities selected as a Military Friendly Employer by the Military Officers Association of America.
